Some valves are not just difficult to close, but simply unsuitable

In industrial settings, when valves experience leakage, sticking, or abnormal sealing, product quality is often the first concern.

However, in practical applications, some issues are not solely related to manufacturing quality. Whether the valve matches the operating conditions also determines its performance during later operation.

Choosing the wrong valve does not necessarily lead to immediate issues. Often, it gradually reveals its underlying "incompatibility" under extreme operating conditions such as low temperature, corrosion, and high temperature.

01. Low-temperature operation: usable at room temperature
It does not mean that it is still applicable in cryogenic environments. For example, in cryogenic conditions such as LNG, temperature drops can affect material properties, dimensional contraction, and sealing pair fit. Structures that function properly under normal conditions cannot be simply adapted to cryogenic environments.

Therefore, low-temperature valves require targeted consideration in aspects such as material selection, structural design, sealing, and cryogenic testing.
The special low-temperature valve is designed for cryogenic conditions down to -196°C. It undergoes corresponding cryogenic tests, including dual deep cryogenic tempering processes and 20% sampling inspection, to ensure the product's adaptability in deep cryogenic environments.

02. Marine working conditions: genuine
What tests valves is the long-term environment marine and ship operating conditions are consistently exposed to seawater, high salinity, and high humidity environments, making material corrosion resistance and long-term durability particularly critical.

Under applicable working conditions, certain bronze materials exhibit excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and can be used in valves related to shipbuilding and marine engineering. For different system requirements, specialized valves can provide products such as bronze butterfly valves, ball valves, gate valves, and globe valves.

The greatest enemy of offshore operations is not pressure, but time what truly needs consideration is not merely whether the valve can be used, but whether the materials and structures can sustainably adapt to operational conditions under prolonged environmental exposure.

03. High temperature and high pressure:
Do not judge solely by pressure levels under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, the selection logic changes again.

Temperature, pressure, medium characteristics, and opening/closing frequency all influence the material selection and sealing structure of valves. Additionally, attention must be paid to the high-temperature strength, thermal expansion, and the stability of the sealing pair under temperature cycles.

Therefore, simply considering the pressure rating or a single parameter is insufficient to complete a comprehensive selection process.

Suitable is more important than "higher parameters." Low temperatures, oceans, high temperatures, and high pressures—each presents distinct material, structural, and sealing challenges.

Valve selection is not merely about checking the nominal size, pressure class, and material, but involves a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between the medium, temperature, pressure, environment, and operating cycle.

Some valves are not unshuttable, but were never placed in a suitable working condition from the start.
Specialty Valve Group Co., Ltd. continuously enhances the adaptability of its products to special working conditions such as cryogenic, offshore engineering, and high temperature and high pressure by improving materials, structures, sealing, and testing processes.
